The West Indies team has done well recently under the captaincy of Kieran Pollard in the white ball format but haven’t managed to win a series. They have been really good at times but consistent performances is the need of the hour for them now. The T20 format is one they cherish the most with two T20 world cups wins already in 2014 and 2016.

New Zealand have rested their two key players namely Kane Williamson and Trent Boult for the T20 squad and will join the team for the Test squad. Players who have returned from the IPL including James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Tim seifert, Locky Ferguson will end their quarantine period on Nov 26. Tim Southee will lead the side in the absence of Williamson but will miss the 3rd T20 along with Ross Taylor and Kyle Jamison who will be joining the test squad.

West Indies have brought back Andre fletcher for the T20s with their batting already boasted with the likes of Hetmyer, Pooran and Powell. Keemo paul, Kesrick williams, Sheldon Cottrell all have been picked in the squads for the tour to make a statement with the ball. Pollard has captained the side well and will look to bring his years of experience into the series before the T20 world cup starts.

New Zealand T20 Squad: Tim Southee (captain), Hamish Bennett, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Seifert (wicket-keeper), Ross Taylor (Doug Bracewell, Scott Kuggeleijn and Mark Chapman included for game three in place of Jamieson, Southee and Taylor).

West Indies T20 squad: Kieron Pollard (C), Nicholas Pooran (WK), Andre Fletcher, Shimron Hetmyer, Kyle Mayers, Brandon King, Rovman Powell, Keemo Paul, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas, Hayden Walsh JR, Kesrick Williams and Romario Shepherd.

The series is set to get underway with all the restrictions and bio bubble rules taking place. New Zealand will go into the series as clear favorites but you could never rule out West Indies for the T20 series with their global stars.
