2. Learn the basics on land first

Your first 4-5 sessions should always be on land first. Before hitting the water, you should practice your pop-up (standing up motion). This will enable you to find the right standing up balance for your body on land and then make you ready to hit the water. Next, work on your balance, which means learning yoga postures and gaining enough body balance so you are able to stabilize yourself while in water.
