Sourav Ganguly to get extended term as BCCI President?

The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) is planning to propose amendments that will change some of the existing rules. The current rule states that office bearer who has held office for two terms in BCCI is not eligible to contest any further elections, until the conditions are met. Sourav Ganguly has been elected as BCCI president on 23 October for a term of 9 months.

The proposed rule change may clear the way for Sourav Ganguly and the secretary Jay Shah to complete a longer terms rather than the stipulated shorter terms. Sourav Ganguly took the charge for office on October 23.

BCCI Members to demand extension

It is now being said that some of the members of the BCCI will demand the change. The change means that Sourav Ganguly can stay as President for an extended term. Hence, it may be possible that Ganguly can stay as BCCI president.

The decision will be taken in the next meeting on November 1. If the suggestion is approved by the court, then Sourav Ganguly may get to complete the 6 year term rather than 9 months. This may be a great boost to BCCI. Sourav Ganguly may stay as BCCI president.
