On paper, this was supposed to be a comfortable win for the Merseysiders, as they are currently in blistering form while their opponents Leicester look out-of-sorts and just recently conceded 6 at the Etihad. But, in what turned out to be quite the shock, Ademola Lookman came off the bench to consign Liverpool to a shock 1-0 defeat after Mohamed Salah had a penalty saved.

It started off well for Jurgen Klopp’s side, with his side pressing for the opening goal as usual and being gifted a golden opportunity after Mo Salah went down in the box. The Egyptian stepped up to take the spot-kick but failed to convert even from the rebound, a moment that defined Liverpool’s night to come. As if a draw was not bad enough to their title aspirations, Leicester forward Lookman came off the bench to score the only goal of the game to compound Liverpool’s misery. The result leaves Liverpool 6 points behind Man City at the top of the Premier League and pushes Leicester up to 9th in the table.

Tottenham were frustrated by Southampton in a 1-1 draw at the St. Mary’s as Harry Kane continued his return to form with his third goal of the season. Saints captain James Ward-Prowse struck a brilliant volley to put the home side ahead, but after Mohamed Salisu was sent off for tackling Son Heung-Min in the penalty area, Englishman Kane made no mistake in putting the penalty away to haul Spurs level. Tottenham, on two separate occasions, thought they had got the winner, but both times the goals were ruled out due to foul play in the buildup.

However, West Ham responded strongly and were the better team for the reaminder of the match as Thomas Soucek, Said Benrahma, Mark Noble and Nikola Vlasic all scored to heap further relegation troubles on Watford.
