The quarterfinal’s of the FA Cup lined up interesting encounters with Premier League giants Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City in action, along with Everton, Southampton and recently relegated Bournemouth, in last night’s round up of matches.
Yesterday Night Football Results: Southampton vs Bournemouth
Last night, 2 of the 4 slated quarterfinal clashes took place in the FA Cup. The first clash was between Southampton and Bournemouth, where the Saints thrashed the League One side 3-0, in a rare dominating performance by the struggling Saints. Moussa Djenepo opened the scoring near the 40th minute mark, which was followed by a brilliant Nathan Redmond brace, giving Southampton their first win after 2 successive losses in the Premier League.

Bournemouth were helpless against the Southampton side, who have been facing their own struggles in the Premier League. Bournemouth had come into the game with a 3-0 victory over Welsh club Swansea in League One, however, they failed to build up on that momentum and had to unfortunately bow out of the FA Cup.
Yesterday Night Football Results: Manchester City vs Everton

Premier League leaders Manchester City faced their league rivals Everton at Goodison Park, where the Citizens ran out 2-0 winners over a new-look Everton side. The match was dominated by Manchester City, who had 75% of the possession, allowing just 2 shots on target for the Toffees. Two late goals by star players Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin de Bruyne took City to the semis of yet another FA Cup, who aim to win the quadraple this season.

Everton have flourished in the Premier League under their new manager Carlo Ancelotti, but would be disappointed to lose out on an opportunity to win silverware, and are unfortunate to face one of the strongest teams in Europe in their quarterfinal draw. Everton did not make an impact on the game, and were faced by heavy offence in the second half, which saw them lose to the Sky Blues.
