Wolves will be traveling to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next week in the Premier League, and Alley Sport is here with Wolves predicted lineup vs Chelsea. The Midlands club are on a poor run of form, and manager Nuno Espirito Santo will be expecting a good show from his men against a battered Chelsea team that are low on morale.
Wolves predicted lineup vs Chelsea: Match Preview
Wolves will be on the road this week, to take on minnows Chorley in their FA Cup 4th round fixture. Espirito Santo will be expecting a routine win from his teams against their non-league opponents. The Molineux outfit badly need a good result to lift their squad up, after losing back to back games in the league at home, to Everton and later West Brom.
Wolves defender Willy Boly fouled West Brom’s Robinson in the box, and Matheus Pereira successfully scored the subsequent penalty kick. Wolves did well to come back from a goal down, after Boly made amends by assisting teenage sensation Fabio Silva for the equalizer. Silva celebrated his first top-flight goal at the Molineux. Boly later got in on the act himself, finishing from closs range after West Brom’s Livermore failed to clear the corner kick, putting the Wolves on top at half time.
In the second half, Semi Ajayi scored a header to equalize for the visitors, and Robinson won a second penalty after being fouled by Wolves captain Conor Coady in the box. Matheus Pereira converted from the spot to give West Brom all 3 points.
The defeat has put Espirito Santo and co in low spirits as it leaves them languishing at 14th in the Premier League table. The Molineux outfit will expect a result from the Chelsea game to bolster their chances of finishing in a Europa League spot.
Wolves predicted lineup vs Chelsea: Latest Team News
Espirito Santo will be without forward Daniel Podence, who was signed from Olympiacos last January. The Portuguese, who can play either centrally or on the wings, has 5 goal involvements from 15 Premier League appearances this season. He is ruled out with a calf injury. Full back Jonny might miss this fixture due to a cruciate ligament injury, and fellow defender Marcal is a doubt for the trip to London due to a knock, although he is expected to return to fitness before the game. Mexican forward Raul Jimenez is out till the end of this month, as he is recovering from a fractured skull. The striker was reportedly back in light training, but his match fitness is a doubt.
Under-fire Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will be missing N’golo Kante. The Frenchman is ruled out until at least early February after picking up a hamstring injury. Compatriot Oliver Giroud is also doubtful for the clash against Wolves with an ankle injury. The 2018 World Cup winning striker has 3 goals from 10 matches in the Premier League this season, and has been preferred for the striker role by Lampard over new signing Timo Werner.
Wolves predicted lineup vs Chelsea
Espirito Santo is expected to field a strong lineup after resting some key players in the FA Cup fixture against non-league Chorley. Wonder-kid Fabio Silva, who joined the Molineux outfit from FC Porto this season might start up front, after scoring against West Brom last week. He could be supported by Adama Traore on the right hand side and Pedro Neto down the left flank. We expect Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves and Leander Dendoncker to play in midfield, with the latter two forming a double-pivot while Moutinho plays in a slightly advanced role. Here’s our Wolves predicted lineup vs Chelsea:
GK: Rui Patricio
LB: Romain Saiss
CB: Willy Boly
CB: Conor Coady (c)
RB: Nelson Semedo
CM: Leander Dendoncker
CM: Ruben Neves
CAM: Joao Moutinho
LW: Pedro Neto
RW: Adama Traore
ST: Fabio Silva
Wolves predicted lineup vs Chelsea: Score Prediction
Both teams come into this game, badly in need of a positive result after suffering some disappointing defeats and falling down the Premier League table. Although Espirito Santo will put out a well-organized team that sits back and defends as a unit, Chelsea can also produce quality chances in attack with the likes of Ziyech, Hudson-Odoi, Pulisic and Werner in their ranks. We predict a 2-2 draw that would see both teams share a point each.
