As the World Cup break got underway, the interview was made public. A few days later, United and Ronaldo confirmed their amicable split, with Ronaldo still in the Portugal team’s camp as they get ready for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently a free agent and, at the age of 37, he’ll be putting himself back in the shop window in 2023 as he looks for a new beginning. There won’t likely be any movement until after his World Cup, but there are already a few signs as to where he may end up.

After Ronaldo’s summer 2022 standoff with United, Chelsea was said to be interested in making a big move for him before the 2022–23 season. The Blues had anticipated that playing in the Champions League would be their trump card and sway a contract on their behalf, but no official negotiations materialised.

With the signings of Raheem Sterling, Wesley Fofana, and Marc Cucurella, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly broke the Premier League transfer window spending record at Stamford Bridge with £271 million ($321 million).

Despite Boehly’s desire for a spectacular transfer for Ronaldo, it was rumoured that previous manager Thomas Tuchel would be opposed to a deal. Additionally, the former Brighton manager was also rumoured to be uninterested, making the January negotiations a test of Graham Potter’s leadership.

Currently, Chelsea has odds of 7/2 to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. Let’s see in the future if Cristiano Ronaldo signs for Chelsea.
