It seems like the Kylian Mbappe transfer drama never ends. Before surprisingly agreeing to a contract extension with PSG, the Frenchman appeared headed for a free move to Real Madrid last summer. Last summer, there were persistent rumours that Mbappe would be transferring to Real Madrid. The Spanish powerhouses were confident of securing a deal for around £175 million/$213 million, before the end of the 2021/22 season.
Mbappe decided to abandon his original plans, sign an extension with Paris, and reject Los Blancos’ offers in favour of doing a remarkable about-face. Despite deciding to stay with PSG and signing a contract extension until 2025, he has raised new doubts with his comments made after PSG’s defeat against Bayern Munich.
Mbappe is still open to the idea of joining Real Madrid in the future.
As the months have gone by, more reports about Mbappe joining Real Madrid have emerged again. He signed a brief new contract with PSG. It had a two-year limit with a potential third year. There have been rumours that Mbappe is unlikely to choose the opportunity to extend his contract by an additional season.
Mbappe would only have one year remaining on his contract with PSG if that were the case, which would mean this summer. However, it does not appear as though the French giants will let him leave. PSG has made Mbappe completely non-transferable, according to sources. The Frenchman will therefore complete his contract, at least through 2024.
It appears as though Mbappe won’t be leaving PSG this summer. However, speculations had previously indicated that Real Madrid was not preparing to make the Frenchman an outrageous offer and was instead more interested in persuading him to sign with them as a free agent in the summer of 2024. What the future holds is yet uncertain.
Other teams are anticipated to compete for Mbappe’s services should he decide to leave PSG. A player like Mbappe would be a fantastic acquisition for Real Madrid and could serve as the team’s mascot for many years. It is also no secret that he is a fan. We can only hope that everything will work out in the end.
