Manchester City have the most volatile matchday lineups in all of Europe. Just when we think we have Pep Guardiola’s selection intentions sized up, he makes a few changes to his team that doesn’t really make sense to any of us. It’s worse if you’re an FPL manager.
Picking a Man City player in FPL is next to playing minesweeper on your Windows computer. You just never know what will happen when the teamsheet comes out. One player that has been selected and dropped regularly is Jack Grealish, who left Aston Villa for Man City this summer.

Grealish came amidst much hype and a British transfer record fee of £100million. But he has really failed to make an impact and has not been a regular fixture in the team despite Pep not having a lot of options to play up front. City take on Brentford today, 29th December, in a highly-anticipated PL game.
And Grealish should start for Man City today. He, along with Phil Foden, was dropped recently by Guardiola for their off-field behaviour on Christmas Day. And later on, the Englishman admitted that life at the Etihad is harder than he thought it would be.
But that doesn’t stop the Spaniard from playing his best players to get the desired result and take a 9 point lead at the top of the table. Grealish was an unused substitute in both of City’s last two league games, against Leicester and Newcastle United.

So, Grealish is clearly fit and raring to go considering he hasn’t put in the shift in high-intensity games. Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva have put in tireless shifts in recent PL games and they could be rested. Not to mention, one of their wingers may have to play as a striker anyway.
Guardiola hasn’t really trusted Gabriel Jesus and makeshift number 9 Ferran Torres has completed a transfer to Barcelona. So, there is clearly space for Grealish to start and we expect that he will, down the left hand side, with Sterling playing as a false number 9. Take not FPL managers!
