Camp Nou, which translates to “new field” and is frequently called the Nou Camp in English, is indeed a football stadium in Barcelona, Spain that is now officially known as Spotify Camp Nou due to sponsorship. Since it was finished in 1957, it has served as FC Barcelona’s home field. Including a present maximum seating of 99,354, it is the third-largest football association stadium in the world and the biggest stadium in Spain and Europe.
Camp de Les Corts, Barcelona’s former stadium, had little capacity for expansion, therefore building on Camp Nou began on March 28, 1954. Although the Estadi del FC Barcelona was the intended name, Camp Nou was chosen instead since it is more recognisable. A bigger stadium was built with further encouragement from the June 1950 acquisition of László Kubala, who is thought to be one of Barcelona’s finest players.
At Camp Nou, only the main stand is fully protected by a roof, as has always been the case since the stadium was built. A roof that spans the whole venue’s ground will be added as part of ongoing renovations. A roof covering the whole stadium would be added as part of the modernization plans for Camp Nou that were presented in 2015. The earliest completion date for the construction, which started in 2017, is 2021.
Although there is no specific reason why it didn’t have a roof, once it was built it became a significant stadium for FC Barcelona and since then it has achieved a lot of success.
