Why did Messi not play yesterday vs Brest, PSG vs Brest 4-2, Ligue 1, 2021/2022
Alley Sports brings you the latest news on the question, “Why did Messi not play yesterday vs Brest”. With the stage all set for the Argentine Superstar to take center stage and make his debut against Brest, most fans and pundits alike are questioning why Lionel Messi was left out of the squad.
Why did Messi not play yesterday : Match Fit?
Messi is yet to make his debut since joining PSG from Barcelona. He was expected to at least play a part in Fridays game against Brest but he was instead left out of the squad that was chosen to play the match.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino had not disclosed any information on whether Messi will get the nod to start the game during the pre match press conference. However PSG announced the squad for the match against Brest and announced that Messi will have to wait until next week to make his debut for the club. He has been training with the first team since joining and currently he is injury free. Thus it can be confirmed that injury should not be a cause of concern for PSG and Messi Fans.
Why did Messi not play yesterday : Reason for Messi being left out of squad
The most probably reason and explanation that can be given for Messi missing out on the first team in this match is probably because the Argentine forward is probably not 100% match fit. He was part of the Argentina team that went all the way and won the Copa America and therefore was given an extended holiday compared to the other players so like most of the players involved in the teams for the respective National tournaments he might be given a few matches before actually starting for the first team.
This may have been easy for the Argentine manager Pochettino to decide considering the strength in depth of this PSG team. His team was more than capable to showing up and getting the win even without Messi in the team.
