Who Will Win The Next Ballon d’Or in 2024?

Since 1956, the French weekly publication France Football has given the annual Ballon d’Or football trophy. Starting in 2024, UEFA will co-organize the award. We at Alley Sport are here to cover Who Will Win The Next Ballon d’Or in 2024? Even though Leo Messi was the most recent winner in 2023, the football world moves swiftly, and guesses as to who will win in 2024 are already being made.

Who Will Win The Next Ballon d’Or in 2024? Preview
The award given to the World Cup champion after an impressive 12 months brings a comfortable familiarity to the pinnacle of men’s football. For many years, it was certain that the top individual award would go to either the Argentine striker or his fierce rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
The two have won 13 of the 15 men’s Ballon d’Or trophies that have been given out since 2008; the only two players to challenge their supremacy are Luka Modric (2018) and Karim Benzema (2022). But Messi is now in Major League Soccer, Ronaldo and Benzema are in Saudi Arabia, and Modric is no longer the same formidable player he was at Real Madrid. They are all well into their 30s. It’s almost time for the guard to change.
It sounds like fierce competition for the 2024 Ballon d’Or. This campaign will feature most of the world’s finest players competing in international competitions including the European Championship, Copa America, and Africa Cup of Nations, in addition to the typical ups and downs of the European domestic season.
While the shortlist for this year’s prize was full of well-known personalities, it also hinted at a future when English and Premier League players may be given more prominence. The following, in our opinion, are the most likely candidates to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or. Read till the end to find out Who Will Win The Next Ballon d’Or in 2024?
The captain of England, Harry Kane, left Tottenham after setting several records to further his career in the Bundesliga with German champions Bayern Munich. The 30-year-old finished second in the division’s top scorer list with 280 goals for Spurs in 435 appearances, a club record that includes 218 goals in the Premier League.
Alan Shearer scored more goals than him. Crucially, though, he lacks trophies on his resume—a flaw he intends to rectify in Germany. As the first player in Bundesliga history to score 12 goals in his first nine games, he has already shattered records at his new team. He has five assists as well. He also keeps scoring goals for an England team that consistently competes at the highest levels; his 61 goals in 87 appearances set a national record.
The prolific Norwegian, Erling Haaland who became the first player to win both the Premier League Player and Young Player of the Year trophies in the same season, is perhaps the most obvious successor to Ronaldo, Messi, and the rest. During his first season in the English Premier League, Haaland broke several records. He scored 36 goals, which was the highest total held for over thirty years by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer. At the end of the season, the 23-year-old scored 52 goals in 53 games, becoming only the second player in the history of the English Premier League and the first in 95 years to score more than 50 goals in all competitions.
Expect Haaland to be a constant in front of goal this season as he chases his first Golden Ball. He could have done so much more to win the 2023 Ballon d’Or and yet came up just short. Haaland might cross the finish line with City if they continue to win a lot of trophies since his form for the team is unlikely to falter.
Fears have been raised, though, that he may miss the biggest international event of the year once more, especially because Norway isn’t even guaranteed a playoff spot after losing out on automatic qualifying for Euro 2024.
After moving from Monaco to Paris St-Germain in 2017, the prolific Frenchman, Kylian Mbappe has played in 272 games and provided 224 goals and 87 assists, helping the Qatari-owned team win 13 domestic titles.

Mbappe, who played a crucial role in France’s World Cup victory in 2018, has scored 43 goals in 73 games for Les Bleus, ranking him fourth on the team’s all-time scoring list, 11 goals behind record holder Olivier Giroud. He scored the first final hat-trick since England’s Geoff Hurst in 1966, but an Argentina led by Messi prevented him from winning the World Cup again in a row. Someday he must succeed, surely? In his home city, Mbappe was unable to win the game’s most prestigious individual award once more, and he couldn’t have looked more dejected during the 2023 Ballon d’Or ceremony. Rumours about Mbappe’s transfer are still prevalent.
Mbappe’s scored ten goals in nine Ligue 1 games this season, so wherever he plays at the club level, he will undoubtedly continue to do so. Although PSG hasn’t impressed in the Champions League thus far, he once again seems a step above them on the pitch, thus an early departure may be in the works. If it does, Mbappe will probably need to lead France to victory at the Euros to win the Golden Ball.
A standout performance at the World Cup in Qatar last year, Jude Bellingham signed a 103 million euro (£88.5 million) deal to join Real Madrid, making him the third most expensive teenager in history and the second most expensive English player ever.

Jude performed admirably in his last season in Germany, setting a record in October of last year when he became the club’s youngest captain at the age of 19, despite his inability to lead the Bundesliga team to its first league title in eleven years. In 42 games in 2022–2023 Bellingham, who cost £25 million to go from Birmingham City to Dortmund in 2020, scored 14 goals and provided seven assists.
The 14-time European winners have been the midfielder’s destination over other elite teams in Europe, and he has had an incredible debut in the Spanish metropolis. He is now the league’s top scorer with ten La Liga goals in 2023–2024, including Saturday’s crucial double against Barcelona in the El Clasico.
The finest football player in the world right now, Bellingham has adapted to Real Madrid’s surroundings, unlike any recruit since Cristiano Ronaldo. Not only is he scoring goals all the time, but he’s also scoring significant goals, like the double that won El Clasico.
At the European Championship, Bellingham’s form will also give England hope that they may finally overcome their big event hump. Even though there’s still a long way to go, Bellingham seems like the guy to watch out right now.
