Who is Richard Arnold?
The reign of the controversial Ed Woodward has finally come to an end with the Manchester United Football Club, as Richard Arnold has been appointed as the new Chief Executing Officer of the club. Richard Arnold has been the group’s managing director since 2013, after having joined the Red Devils in 2007.
The new football structure was established last year, with the appointment of John Murtough as the football director, and Darren Fletcher as technical director. It is understood that Murtough will lead football decisions with assistance from Fletcher. Both will report to Arnold, but it is believed that the transfers activity would not be one of the primary roles for him.
Ed Woodward says goodbye to the club
Ed Woodward had big shoes to fit in as the CEO position, replacing highly successful David Gill in 2013. Ed Woodward overlooked the transition phase for the Red Devils, winning the FA Cup, EFL Cup as well as the Europa League under his tenure. He successful brought many global sponsors onboard for the global brand of Manchester United, however, failed to replicate such efforts on the field for the Red Devils.
