Who is Femi Azeez? Liverpool eye Reading wonderkid in shock transfer

Liverpool haven’t been the most active team in the transfer market. And that is especially true if we consider incomings. But there is one shock name that has surfaced today in the form of a starlet from England’s divisions. So, who is Femi Azeez, the latest Liverpool transfer target?

Reports have surfaced that Liverpool are after Femi Azeez of Reading FC. The 20-year-old winger isn’t a household name, which is probably why you’re reading this article in the first place. Having played for teams like Northwood and Wealdstone, he doesn’t boast of a very posh CV.

He joined Reading two years ago but only has four appearances for them. In fact, he only just scored his first professional goal for the EFL Championship against Preston North End earlier this month. He can play both sides of the wing and could be an asset to any club in the lower divisions of English football.

But the Premier League is a whole different gravy. With all due respect to Azeez and the fact that players can be late bloomers, he has failed to make an impact and he’s already 20. And as for Liverpool, it’s a shame that they are having to shop like this in the transfer window where other teams are flexing their muscles.

Liverpool transfer news: Who is Femi Azeez?

Azeez was born to a Nigerian father and Spanish mother and his brother, Miguel Azeez, is also a player at Arsenal’s academy. The youngster is adept at dribbling and has decent pace, but Liverpool need to look at better quality players. Mikkel Damsgaard from Sampdoria is one player that they should rather focus on.

Chelsea have signed Romelu Lukaku, Manchester City got Jack Grealish, Man United went out and got both Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, and even Tottenham splashed the cash on Bryan Gil. In light of this, the Reds can do better than scouting barely known Championship players.

It’s as if Jurgen Klopp isn’t backed by Liverpool’s owners. The club has recorded profits from transfer activities in almost every window since Klopp was here. That is a shocking statistic that needs changing and FSG have to show they are really serious about the club with 3 days left until the deadline by pursuing quality, proven players.
