After replacing Miguel Russo as manager of Al-Nassr in the summer, Rudi Garcia is now in charge. In his native France, the Frenchman has had a prosperous managing career. He is most known for leading Lille to the Ligue 1 championship in 2010–2011.
Garcia won the Coupe de France the following year and was instrumental in the growth of a young Eden Hazard. Garcia then accepted positions with AS Roma, Marseille, and Lyon, but since his success with Lille, he hasn’t been able to add to his collection of awards.
The manager has lost two significant championship games in the past five years. Garcia lost the 2020 Coupe de la Ligue final with Lyon as well as the 2018 Europa League finals with Marseille. In the 2019–20 season, Lyon was memorably guided by the 58-year-old to the Champions League semifinals.
To go through the group stage and into the semifinals, the French team defeated Manchester City and Juventus. The eventual winners Bayern Munich then defeated Garcia’s team. Garcia is now concentrating on delivering silverware to Al-Nassr.
Although the attacker has caused problems for his previous two managers, the Frenchman will also have Ronaldo at his disposal. The great striker was the subject of a dispute involving both Man United manager Erik ten Hag and former Portugal head coach Fernando Santos.
In an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo aimed at the current United boss. The Portuguese captain was benched for two World Cup 2022 semifinal games, and Santos received criticism for the decision.
