In the 20th minute of Bayern Munich’s 6-1 victory over Werder Bremen on November 9, 2022, the former Liverpool star hobbled out, Sadio Mane, seemingly ending his chances of playing in the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar. Mane’s chances of representing Senegal in Qatar have been dashed after being initially selected for the World Cup roster. This is because it has been made known that the 30-year-old underwent successful surgery in which a tendon was repaired to the head of his right fibula.
After it was initially stated that Mane would merely miss the opening phases of the international competition, he had the surgery. Ben Dinnery, an injury expert, estimates that Sadio Mane of Bayern Munich would be out for “in the area of three months” as a result of the knee injury he sustained at the Allianz Arena, which put an end to his World Cup aspirations.
Ben Dinnery estimates that Mane will be out of football for three months following surgery, during which time his leg will be in a brace while he starts his journey to rehabilitation. The injury news expert has cautioned that the Senegalese Talisman might spend an even longer amount of time on the sidelines if his recovery does not go as expected or if there are setbacks along the road.
If Mane is going to be sidelined during the next 3 months, he won’t be back until mid-February, which means he won’t be available for crucial matchups with teams like RB Leipzig and will be struggling to get healthy before Bayern’s Champions League last-16 matches against Paris Saint-Germain.
There is little doubt that Mane’s presence will be missed, but Bayern entered the domestic football break four points ahead at the front of the Bundesliga Table and would also be optimistic about winning the Bundesliga championship in a few months.
