When will AFCON end?

The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in June and July 2021, but the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that it would be moved to January and February 6 due to the scorching weather during the summer months.

But, later due to Covid-19 it was once again postponed and delayed for a year. So, the AFCON was scheduled to begin on January 9 2022 and end on February 6, 2022.

Where is the AFCON 2022 taking place

Afcon 2022 will take place in Cameroon.

The opening and closing matches are set to be played at the new Olembe Stadium in Yaounde. The games will be held in at least six stadiums around Cameroon, including Yaounde’s Olembe Stadium and Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo, Douala’s Japoma Stadium, Limbe’s Limbe Stadium, Bafoussam’s Kouekong Stadium, and Garoua’s Roumde Adjia Stadium.

Some of the important fixtures are:

  • 10 January: Senegal vs Zimbabwe
  • 10 January: Morocco vs Ghana
  • 11 January: Nigeria vs Egypt
