Southampton predicted lineup vs Manchester City : Match Preview

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl will know the danger of simply sitting back against this Man City team under Pep especially with the quality of players that they have who can cause chaos to any backline in the world if given space. He also however need to keep in mind that they cannot afford to push too many men up front as City have super quick players in wide areas, they will most likely try and use the middle of the park as the area where they can create mid blocks and stop City.

These two teams have met each other 95 times in total in the past out of which Man City has the edge in terms of wins with 38 wins to their name while Southampton have 32 wins against City while a total of 25 of the matches were drawn. However we may see something different this time round considering the red hot form City are in and their ability to penetrate and destroy defensively lines with simply a few short passes.

Another problem which Southampton face is that they are missing out on key players, with the departure of Danny Ings to Aston Villa, their attacking options grow thin with their center forward Shane Long testing positive for Covid. They are also missing out on central midfielder Will Smallbone. Sam Mcqueen is still not back in contention after his long term injury a couple of seasons back.
