Manchester United were closing in on Gakpo as Erik Ten Hag was sold out on him being the solution to the misfiring forwards for Manchester United. However Liverpool came in and quickly snapped Cody Gakpo for whom the club paid 37m ahead of the winter transfer window.

Interest and an attempted move for Mane came while Louis van Gaal was in the Old Trafford hot-seat, with the Dutchman recently confirming United were desperate to land the Senegal international.Mane himself has spoken about how close he was to joining the Manchester club, only for Liverpool to beat them to the punch. The situation was raised once more ahead of the game in Qatar, and Van Gaal reiterated his stance.
At the end of a glittering career at Southampton, Mane was ready to try himself at a top-six club. Manchester United rolled out the carpet for him and he was set to swap St.Mary’s for Old Trafford only for a last-minute call from Jurgen Klopp to change everything.
Mane then swapped Liverpool for Bayern Munich in the summer after spending six successful seasons with the Anfield outfit. Since joining the Bavarians, the 30-year-old winger has been a mainstay in Julen Naglesmann’s side, contributing with six goals and three assists in 14 Bundesliga outings.
Sadio Mane remains committed to playing for Bayern Munich and he won’t react to the speculations about him linking to different clubs in the upcoming transfer windows. Sadio Mane has commenced his German lessons as he continues his recuperation from an injury, he suffered days before the World Cup.
