PSG vs Nimes, Match Preview
After starting his PSG career with a frustrating 1-1 draw against St Etienne, Mauricio Pochettino led his side to 4 consecutive victories, that saw him winning his first trophy as manager when PSG defeated Marseille in the Trophees des Champions. They were highly impressive against Montpellier, who they defeated 4-0 at the Parc de Princes. However, the Pochettino wave hit a trough against Lorient, who overcame the odds to beat their much bigger opponents 3-2 in a thrilling fixture last week.
After Laurent Abergel put Lorient in the lead after the home team dominated early stages of the game. Presnel Kimpembe and Pereira of PSG were at fault for the opener. However things turned around for PSG as they game progress, with 222 million Euros signing Neymar equalizing and later putting PSG above with back-to-back penalty kicks. The two spot kicks took Neymar to 6 league goals in 10 matches this season, half of which have come from the spot.
It seemed as though PSG would get away with a win as time trickled down. However, substitute Yoane Wissa equalized for Lorient, after getting lucky with a heavy touch and blasting in from close-range. In stoppage time, PSG were caught high up the field as they searched for a winner but ironically conceded one, as Laurent Abergel who scored the opener found Terem Moffi with a brilliant long ball. Moffi raced past his man and coolly slotted past Sergio Rico to win it for his side.
