The lack of transfer activity in the summer has created a very tense situation for manager Steve Bruce and owner Mike Ashley. Bruce has been a veteran manager with plenty of Premier League experience and is well known for his expertise in rescuing teams from relegation. They managed to bring in a new face in the summer window in the form of midfielder Joe Willock. Willock comes from Arsenal back to Newcastle following his short loan stint last season and hoping to reenergize the whole team for the rest of the season.

The Magpies sit in the 17th spot level on points with Burnley who sit in 18th due to goal difference. Newcastle have lost their 3 out of 6 Premier League matches this season, which has led to questions being asked by the supporters about continuing with Bruce. They have a difficult run of fixtures in their next five games with Tottenham(H), Crystal Palace(A), Chelsea(H), Brighton(A), and Brentford(H), all teams in a better position than Newcastle. In such a scenario, the Magpies and Steve Bruce will need to grind out results to ensure survival this campaign.

The game against Watford in Gameweek 6 would have been one tough pill to swallow for the team as they played well but conceded a goal in the 71st minute. Bruce has been criticized since the very beginning for his ‘sitback once the team scores’ attitude. The Magpies have always been a team that has played exciting football and players like Almiron and Saint-Maximin really form a crucial partnership for any chance of survival this season.

Newcastle United vs Wolves : Prediction

Wolverhampton though will be the favorites going into this tie because Newcastle’s football mentality really harms their goal-scoring output and the burden to supply the goals will be very heavy. My prediction for the game would be a close-fought contest ending in a 2-1 defeat for the away side at Molineux. It will be a tough outing for the Magpies as they are still reeling with so many lost points since the beginning of the campaign. Wolves will be an extremely challenging team capable of outplaying any team on their day, with the likes of Raúl Jiménez and Adama Traore being the players to watch out for Newcastle.

Luckily for the Magpies, they have a healthy squad without no injury problems and Steve Bruce will be quite pleased with his player’s fitness record. The Magpies’ attack will be spearheaded by Allan Saint-Maximin, who can really cause quite a lot of issues for a Wolves team hoping to attain solidity at the back. Isaac Hayden will be the defensive midfielder with Jow Willock and Sean Longstaff sitting just ahead of him in the midfield.
