This will be their seventh meeting in the European competition. In the UEFA Champions League (L1), Manchester City has won twice in its previous three meetings with Bayern Munich, with their lone loss coming to Pep Guardiola’s team in October 2013. (1-3).

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, and Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Bayern Munich, will square off for the fourth time in a cup matchup. Tuchel has won two of the prior three meetings. Guardiola’s teams have not scored a goal in any of the three games, with his lone victory coming in the 2016 DFB-Pokal championship penalty shootout.

Erling Haaland of Manchester City has played against Bayern Munich seven times in his career, scoring five goals in those outings (all for Borussia Dortmund). Despite this, all seven of those games have been lost by the opposing team.

The only club team that Haaland has encountered more than twice without triumphing in his club career is Borussia Dortmund, who he has played against since signing in December 2019.
