When these two teams met earlier in November, Liverpool hammered Atalanta 5-0, with Diogo Jota scoring a hat-trick and taking home the match-ball. Liverpool beat Leicester 3-0 on Sunday to steer 6 points clear of Manchester City and go level at the top with Spurs on 20 points after 9 games.

Liverpool will be without Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri as both players were revealed to be carrying fresh injuries after the win against Leicester City. Fabinho and Matip returned to the team on the weekend and can feature in the UCL tie. Up front, Mo Salah tested negative for the coronavirus and will undergo a UEFA testing session later to be given the all clear to play against the Italians.

Liverpool are still without Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold who have extensive injuries. Rhys Williams is also a doubt after hip issues on international duty.

Atalanta are without midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi, right-back Fabio Depaoli, center-back Mattia Caldara, while forward Marco Tumminello is ineligible.
