Liverpool transfer news roundup; Reds eyeing Schalke prodigies and Burnley centre back
Alley Sport brings to you the latest Liverpool transfer news roundup. To no one’s surprise, the Reds are in the market for a defender. With a new 4-week long injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold reported yesterday, Klopp will be wary of the heavy fixture scheduling ahead.
Liverpool transfer news roundup:
As mentioned by Alley Sport earlier, Liverpool are still very much interested in signing Schalke’s defensive duo Malick Thiaw and Ozan Kabak. The Reds are in a centre-back crisis and Klopp would want options at the back for the congested fixture-list that awaits the Reds.
The Turkish centre-back Kabak would cost anywhere between 26-30 million pounds, while Thiaw, compared already to the likes of Matip, can be procured for a fee under 20 million pounds. With the coronavirus pandemic hitting clubs hard, Schalke may be forced to sell one of the two defenders if the asking price is met.
Liverpool will get a boost with the news that Fabinho will be renewing his Liverpool contract. The Brazilian is looking to put pen to paper for the next 4-5 years. Fabinho has played in defensive midfield as well as centre-back when called upon. One of the most complete players in Liverpool’s rear-end, the 27-year-old is in the prime of his career and believes he can win more trophies in Merseyside.
Liverpool transfer news roundup: Reds can aim for Tarkowski, Skriniar
While the links with Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar are not new, the desperation to sign a quality centre-back grows more each passing day. With Skriniar not preferred by Antonio Conte much this season in Inter’s backline, the Slovakian could be enticed to move to the Premier League
James Tarkowski is a name freshly linked with the Reds. Former Reds’ player Chris Kirkland has indicated that the Reds were in for the Englishman alongside Manchester United and West Ham United. The defender is valued at 50 million pounds.
“Obviously there was a lot of talk about [James] Tarkowski at Burnley. I like him, I think he’s decent. you can’t go, ‘well will he do what Van Dijk does?’ Because that’s impossible, nobody does that.”Kirkland to The Burnley Report, speaking about Tarkowski
