Latest Liverpool transfer news 2020; Reds after Janmaat, Schurrs, and Upamecano

Liverpool transfer news latest

The Reds are in market for a new defender in January as their injury troubles grow by the hour. Here is Alley Sport with the latest Liverpool transfer news roundup for November 15th.

Joe Gomez injured for the season

Liverpool’s centre-back Joe Gomez suffered a serious injury in England’s training camp and will be sidelined for the majority if the season. This news comes after the Reds lost Virgil van Dijk for the entire season due to an ACL injury and saw Trent Alexander-Arnold sidelined for a month when he injured his calf against Manchester City a week earlier.

The injury troubles for Liverpool at the back have only multiplied. Brazilian makeshift defender Fabinho Tavares is just returning from injury, which leaves Joel Matip the only fit senior centre-back at the club. Matip hasn’t made back-to-back appearances for Liverpool in 14 months.

Liverpool transfer news: Perr Schuurs a probability

Liverpool will be keeping an eye on Ajax’s 20-year-old centre-back Perr Schuurs as his contract is scheduled for expiration in the summer. While both AC Milan and Inter Milan are after Schurrs, Jurgen Klopp could get his man if he submits a bid in the region of 20 million pounds for the Dutchman and promises him extended gametime.

Apart from Schuurs, the Reds have been linked with several other centre-backs including Schalke duo Malick Thiaw and Ozan Kabak, and Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar. Gomez’s injury may push Klopp to make at least 2 signings in January, as the games come thick and fast for the team looking to defend it’s Premier League crown for the first time.

Liverpool transfer news: Daryl Janmaat rumors gather pace

Dutch free agent Daryl Janmaat is reportedly the most likely option for Klopp to go to in the winter. The ex-Watford full-back has over 110 appearances in the Premier League with Watford and Newcastle United. Janmaat became a free agent in October as he left Waftord after the Hornets were relegated to the Championship.

The 31-year-old can play anywhere in the backline and his versatility and availability will interest Klopp, who is on the lookout for urgent defensive reinforcements.
