Liverpool predicted lineup vs Manchester United: Match Preview

The Reds will host Burnley at Anfield this week before travelling to Old Trafford for the important derby clash in the FA Cup. The Burnley game is sure to be a tricky affair for Jurgen Klopp and his side, who have not scored a goal in 3 consecutive Premier League matches. This dry run has seen them suffer a defeat at Southampton and drop points against Newcastle and Manchester United, falling down to 4th place in the Premier League. Klopp will want a good show from his men to pick up all 3 points here, as they try to defend their league title as well as their unbeaten run at home.

Liverpool’s last match was a 0-0 draw at Anfield against Manchester United. The draw ensured United stayed above their rivals in the league table, while it allowed the likes of Leicester and Manchester City to overtake Liverpool. If they drop points against Burnley, Liverpool will have a very tough second half of their season as they try to defend their PL title.

Their opponents Man United travelled to London after the Anfield draw, to face Fulham at Craven Cottage. After going down 1-0 to a goal from Ademola Lookman, United bounced back after Edinson Cavani equalized off a rebound from Fulham keeper Areola, and Paul Pogba pulled off a stunner to ensure United left London will 3 points in the bag. Pogba’s goal was the highlight of the game, after the Frenchman received the ball down the right-hand side, took a few touches inwards and curled one into the top corner off his weaker left foot. Pogba, who is linked with a move away from United once his contract expires this summer, will have the desire to leave the Red Devils with a big trophy to his name.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Manchester United: Latest Team News

Liverpool will continue to fight through the season with an injury-depleted defence, with main man Virgil van Dijk on the sidelines with a ligament injury that will make him unavailable until May. Joe Gomez is also ruled out with a knee injury for the remainder of this season. New signing Kostas Tsimikas is recovering from a knee injury that will set him aside until February. Diogo Jota, who has impressed since his transfer from Wolves, will also miss this game. Naby Keita is doubtful with a muscle injury. Liverpool fans could have something to be happy about, however, since center-back Joel Matip is set to return to their lineup after recovering from his injury.

Man United will miss youngsters Brandon Williams and Facundo Pellistri, while Victor Lindelof is also doubtful with a back injury. Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones, both linked with a move away from Old Trafford and yet to play a game this season, are set to miss this game too. Here’s our Liverpool predicted lineup vs Manchester United:

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Manchester United

Jurgen Klopp has taken a laid-back approach to the cup competitions in recent history, focusing more on the league and European competitions. However, the size of their opponents and the history of this fixture might change the German tactician’s plans. Liverpool played without a natural center-back, with midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho putting in a shift at central defence last week when United visited Anfield. Although Joel Matip might be available for this fixture, we believe Klopp will not rush the defender back into the lineup. However, we predict Liverpool’s usual front three to start this game, as they will try to break their dry run in front of goal in recent times. This is our Liverpool predicted lineup vs Manchester United:

Formation: 4-3-3

GK: Allison

LB: Andrew Robertson

CB: Fabinho

CB: Rhys Williams

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold

CDM: Jordan Henderson (c)

CM: Thiago Alcantara

CM: Georgino Wijnaldum

LW: Sadio Mane

RW: Mohamed Salah

CF: Roberto Firmino

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Manchester United: Score Prediction

The two teams have drawn at Old Trafford in their last two games here, with Adam Lallana, currently at Brighton, the last Liverpool player to score at Old Trafford when he equalized an early Marcus Rashford strike in the 2019/20 Premier League season. Both the teams will want to add silverware to their trophy cabinet this season, and both have shown the determination in their games to win. We predict a 1-1 draw, which would result in a replay at Anfield.
