Leicester City have performed above expectations in the league this season, sitting at 3rd one point behind league leaders Liverpool. The Foxes are unbeaten in their last 5 matches in all competitions, recently defeating Championship club Stoke City 4-0 in the FA Cup 3rd Round. Playing on a cold night in Stoke, full-back James Justin opened the scoring for the Foxes, sending a right-footed effort from outside the box into the net on 34 minutes. Experienced player Marc Albrighton doubled Leicester’s lead from inside the box shortly before the hour mark.

New signing Timothy Castagne found Ayoze Perez, who converted from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner to make it three. Young winger Harvey Barnes finished the rout for Leicester on the 81st minute, sending the Foxes to the next round of the FA Cup, where they have drawn Brentford away.

Southampton only recently defeated Premier League champions Liverpool, with former Liverpool player Danny Ings scoring the only goal of the match. Manager Ralph Hassenhuttl will be hoping to build on this positive result and gain momentum as Southampton will try to be in the European qualification spots come end of this season.

Turkish forward Cengiz Under is a doubt for this match with an ankle injury, and so is midfield play-maker James Maddison, who was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer. Match fitness of star striker Jamie Vardy is also a doubt, given the player is recovering from a hip injury. Midfielder Denis Praet and full-back Ricardo Pereira are also recovering from injuries and are doubts for the clash against Southampton.

The Saints will be without first-choice goalkeeper Alex McCarthy who is out with an injury. Defenders Jannik Vestergaard and Mohammed Salisu are injury doubts, and so are forwards Michael Obafemi and Che Adams. Ralph Hassenhuttl will be without midfielder Nathan Redmond who is recovering from a hip injury as well as winger Moussa Djenepo who has an injured hamstring.

We expect Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers to go with his preferred 3-defender formation for this fixture. Jaime Vardy is expected to start, although his availability is still not 100%, with the English striker recovering from a hip injury. The same goes for James Maddison who, if fitness permits, is expected to start as an attacking midfielder, alongside Harvey Barnes.
