After Roma’s loss in the Europa League final, José Mourinho intensified his verbal abuse of referee Anthony Taylor by calling the Englishman “a disgrace” and cursing at him in a parking lot. Following Wednesday night’s defeat by Sevilla for Roma, Jose Mourinho launched a profane tirade at referee Anthony Taylor of the Europa League final. At the Puskas Arena, Taylor was the busiest official on the field as he issued 14 yellow cards, including one to Roma manager Mourinho, during a tense match.
After extra time, the game was tied 1-1, and a penalty shootout was necessary to decide the winner. Both Roger Ibanez and Gianluca Mancini missed penalties for Roma after Paulo Dybala had given Sevilla the lead in the 35th minute. Mancini’s own goal had previously tied the score for Sevilla.
It was Mourinho’s first-ever loss in a European final when Montiel scored on his second try to secure a 4-1 victory in the shootout. Immediately after the game, Mourinho was not in a good mood. The Roma manager insulted Taylor in the parking lot after he threw his silver medal into the throng. Mourinho, 60, urged Taylor to “f* off” and referred to him as a “f*ing disgrace.” It is unclear exactly what Mourinho was upset about.
