The Three Lions reach their first major international final since 1966, as Alley Sport debates whether is it coming home or it would be a major disaster for the English.
English football fans have drowned the nation with the chants of the memorable chant “It’s coming home”, the popular rendition of the song for the 1996 Euros, where England were knocked out by Germany in the semifinals. Is it coming home?
England have had a mixed European campaign, from an extremely slow start, which included a 1-0 win over Croatia, to being held to a goalless draw against the Scottish. The 1-0 win over Czech Republic garnered momentum for the English, as they beat their fierce rivals Germany 2-0 in an electric English atmosphere, and breezed past Ukraine in the quarterfinals. Their win against Denmark showed that England do have the mettle to fight, but they face the biggest test yet with a magnificent Italian side. The chances of football going home is quite less, but in football, nothing is impossible.
Is it coming home? Will England win the Euros?
55 years of disappointment can finally come to an end, with Wembley Stadium all ready to host their national team, to take on the Italians in the final, which very few people anticipated. England can win the UEFA Euros 2020 if they play an aggressive game, attacking the resilient Italian defense, who have been pivotal in their 31 game unbeaten streak in all competitions. England are the underdogs for this contest, with Italians beating teams like Belgium and Spain, showing the English that football might head to Rome instead of victorious Wembley night.
