IPL 2020 postponed further, to start after May lockdown

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced that the Indian Premier League will not start on 15th April, 2020. IPL 2020, that was scheduled to start on 30th March got postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and BCCI planned to begin it from 15th April.

However, the nation wide lockdown in India got extended to 3rd May from 14th April. The BCCI hence decided to futher postpone the Indian Premier League. Now, it is in doubt whether the premier cricketing league in India will began at all or not. This is because that after the normal functioning begins, ICC will come up with the plan to schedule International fixtures that will come in way of the IPL.

Now that the BCCI Sources have told that IPL may not begin before 3rd May, only an official notification is further awaited. Many sporting leagues all over the world are in similar dilemma to when they can begin. However, it is understood that if IPL this year gets cancelled, BCCI will incur losses amounting to thousand of crores. The franchise owners are not happy with conducting the IPL behind closed doors. So it will be worth seeing what the BCCI may conclude and decide upon. For now, the IPL 2020 stands postponed until further notice by the BCCI.

It is not possible to continue the Indian Premier league this season as the number of Covid-19 cases in India increase rapidly day by day.
