IPL 2019 Heroics: David Warner’s exemplary campaign

Australian opener David Warner was in exceptional form in the Indian Premier League 2019. The Australian lead the charge for Sunrisers Hyderabad and opened for them along with Jonny Bairstow. David Warner played exceptionally well in IPL 2019.

Warner received the Orange Cap in IPL 2019 for scoring the most runs in the 11th edition of the premier cricketing league in the World. David Warner scored 692 runs in just 12 matches. He scored with an average of 69.20 and a strike rate of 143.86. David Warner took responsibility upon his shoulders when Kane Williamson couldn’t deliver with the bat. Maybe this is the reason, the Sunrisers Hyderabad Management have decided to give the captaincy charge to David Warner in Indian Premier League 2020.

Warner created an IPL record opening stand with English opener Jonny Bairstow when they created a record partnership of 185 runs. Warner scored an unbeatable century off just 55 balls while Jonny Bairstow scored 114 runs off 56 balls. David Warner in IPL had made his intentions clear right in that match that he has the hunger for more runs.

Going ahead in the campaign, Warner also scored 8 half centuries in the remaining 11 games which is an achievement in itself. Thus, there could be no one more worthy than Warner for the orange cap. This is not the only time David Warner scored a century. He also scored a century against the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017 when he scored 126 off 59 balls.

‘Man with an attitude and confidence’

David Warner is a different personality in himself. His attitude speaks for his batting. Arrogant yet confident. Warner carried the same mood throughout the IPL where he has already scored 4706 runs in his career with 4 centuries. He is one of the best players in the league who can turn the tables on their day. Warner’s overall average of 43.17 indicates how deadly he can get on his day.

Let’s not forget that David Warner has been a part of major controversies over the years too. He was a part of the 2018 Ball-tampering Scandal that got him banned for a year. However, his comeback to International and domestic cricket is as just glorifying!
