Antonio Conte’s men have suffered two bad results in what has otherwise been a good run of form for the Nerrazuri and head to Fiorentina in a Coppa Italia clash. Inter Milan had the chance to go top of the Serie A table when AC Milan fell to defeat for the first time in the league against Juventus. However Conte and co blew their chance with two frustrating results back-to-back. After losing 2-1 at Sampdoria when former Inter player Keita Balde scored the winner, the Nerazzuri travelled to Rome with hopes of turning things around. Roma took the lead with Lorenzo Pellegrini converting from a Mkhitaryan ball. The latter registered his 8th assist in the Serie A in what has been a fine season for the Armenian playmaker. Goals from Milan Skriniar and wing-back Achraf Hakimi put Inter in the lead, before Gianluca Manzini rose to head home the equalizer for Roma.

These two games have wedged a 3-point gap at the top, with Inter at second place with 37 points. Conte will want to win the Coppa Italia and challenge for the Serie A, to make up for a largely disappointing Champions League campaign where the Nerrazuri finished bottom of their group.

Fiorentina, on the other hand, bounced back from a 2-1 defeat to Lazio, by beating Cagliari 1-0 at home. Dusan Vlahovic scored from close range to give all 3 points to Fiorentina. The result takes Fiorentina to 12th in the league table, and they will hope to take something from the Inter game in their hopes of achieving a top half finish.

Conte will be without young center-forward Andrea Pinamonti, who is out for a few weeks with a muscle injury. Veteran midfielder Arturo Vidal is also on the sidelines with an ankle injury. Defenders Matteo Darmian (on loan from Parma) and Danilo D’Ambrosio are also ruled out due to injury. Matias Vecino is believed to be unavailable on account of a knee injury.

Fiorentina will be without the services of young full-back Pol Lirola and defender German Pezzella who are out with injuries. Veteran forward Franck Ribery, who is yet to score in the league this season, will also sit the game out with a muscle injury.
