India’s tour of Australia 2020: Kohli to return midway, Natarajan replaces Chakravarthy, BCCI’s fresh update on Rohit Sharma

India’s tour of Australia 2020 is the most awaited tour this year for the fans in India and it could not get more exciting as BCCI announces replacements for the injuries and updates on the return of Rohit Sharma. Alley Sport brings you all the news and updates released by BCCI..

India’s tour of Australia 2020 updates

India’s tour of Australia 2020 is already heating up as Virat Kohli has informed BCCI about returning to India after the first test in Adelaide. BCCI had granted paternity leave to the Indian captain and it will be interesting to see if Ajinkya replaces Kohli as captain for the remainder of the series.

The Indian wicket keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha who made a great impact in the limited outings he got for Sunrisers is also suffering from a hamstring injury during the IPL. A call on him is to be taken later for India’s tour of Australia and this means Rishabh Pant will get more opportunities in the test team to cement his place as the wicket keeper batsman.

Varun Chakravarthy misses out

Its really sad that Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of India’s tour of Australia, owing to a shoulder injury and has been replaced by his statesman T Natarajan from Tamil Nadu for the T20 series. Both the players are exceedingly talented and both had an excelled outing in this year’s IPL. The mystery off spinner might have to wait a little longer to make his debut for the national side.

Sanju Samson has never been able to match his talent with consistent good scores and his timing was impeccable in the ongoing IPL. He was picked ahead of Rishabh Pant in the T20 side and now he had been picked as the additional wicket keeper in the one day squad. KL Rahul being the first choice wicketkeeper, Samson might have to wait for his turn.

Rohit Sharma rested

After all the conundrum, Rohit Sharma has been rested for India’s tour of Australia 2020 series and will be picked for the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2021. His fitness had been tracked down by the BCCI selection committee and has been advised to fully regain fitness.

Many raised eyebrows when the Indian squads for the Australian tour were announced since a stalwart like Rohit Sharma was excluded from all the three formats of the game. Owing to the hamstring injury he picked up during the middle of the IPL tournament, he had to sit out 4 games for his franchise and rightly so, the selectors did not want to take risk.

Ishant Sharma has been sent to National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and he is undergoing rehab. He will be available to be picked once he gains match fitness back. Kamlesh Nagarkoti who was named in the net bowlers for the tour also misses out as he is being monitored by the medical team considering his workload.
