Ferguson began his managerial career with East Stirlingshire in 1974 after having played his whole playing career in Scotland. The following year, he joined St. Mirren. Ferguson at St. Mirren turned around a Second Division squad to become First Division winners in 1977.

Ferguson gained further notoriety when leading Aberdeen to victories in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and UEFA Super Cup, along with three Scottish Cups and four top-flight championships. In 1986, he took over as Ron Atkinson’s replacement at Old Trafford, and in 1990, he took home his first FA Cup.

Additionally, he expanded his collection by adding a second UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and UEFA Super Cup. In the first season of the Premier League in 1992–1993, Ferguson put an end to Man Utd’s 26-year drought for a top-flight championship.

In the next 20 years, up to his retirement after the 2012–13 season, he had unprecedented success. The “Class of 92” formed the foundation of the Red Devils’ success, with Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, and Nicky Butt among the “Fergie’s fledglings” to gain notoriety in the early to mid-1990s.

Ferguson was also the FA Cup’s five-time champion and the League Cup’s four-time champion during his time at Old Trafford. During his tenure as manager, United also won two UEFA Champions League championships, including the 1999 title in Barcelona, which came after a 2-1 victory against Bayern Munich thanks to two stoppage-time goals.

The legendary Scottish manager led Manchester United for an incredible 27 years, during which he transformed the club into a dominant force in English football and on the European stage. Ferguson managed to play in more than 800 Premier League matches and 1,400 games overall, helping United win its 13th Premier League championship and 20th top-flight victory overall in 2012–13 with four matches remaining.

During his tenure in command at Old Trafford, he won more than 30 titles in all. He was the recipient of multiple individual honours, including LMA Manager of the Year and LMA Manager of the Decade, as well as 11 Premier League Manager of the Season, wins, 27 monthly honours, and other victories. 528 victories from 810 games make up his all-time Premier League record.
