Ferguson began his managerial career with East Stirlingshire in 1974 after having played his whole playing career in Scotland. The following year, he joined St. Mirren. Ferguson at St. Mirren turned around a Second Division squad to become First Division winners in 1977.
Ferguson gained further notoriety when leading Aberdeen to victories in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and UEFA Super Cup, along with three Scottish Cups and four top-flight championships. In 1986, he took over as Ron Atkinson’s replacement at Old Trafford, and in 1990, he took home his first FA Cup.

The “Class of 92” formed the foundation of the Red Devils’ success, with Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, and Nicky Butt among the “Fergie’s fledglings” to gain notoriety in the early to mid-1990s.
Ferguson was also the FA Cup’s five-time champion and the League Cup’s four-time champion during his time at Old Trafford.
