England’s UEFA Euros 2020 campaign comes to a disappointing and a bitter end, as the ghost of the past- penalty shoot out haunt the Three Lions again. England played a good match against the Italians, leading 1-0 after just 2 minutes on the clock, with Luke Shaw opening the scoring. However, an Italian comeback in the second half, and a Gianluigi Donnarouma masterclass in the penalty shoot out took the European crown to Rome, making certain English players the scapegoat for the same.

England’s young stars Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka faced abuses, vile threats and racially discrimination post England’s exit from the UEFA Euros. These three players missed their respective penalties in the final shoot out, causing an uproar in England, with many inhumane comments and pathetic threats on the lives of the players. Support has been pouring in from all across the world for the English players, as they face probably the worst moment of their young footballing careers.

Bukayo Saka has been a stand out player for Arsenal in the 2020/21 Premier League season, making his break through and joining the England squad in the process. Bukayo Saka, just 19 years of age, was in charge of taking the all important penalty for the English in the finals, however, failed to convert, giving the title to Italy. Saka has not retired from football, and is expected to be on a break until preseason starts for the Arsenal players, with the player considered a key element for the future, as the youngster would be hoping to make his place in the FIFA World Cup 2022 squad.

The other players involved in the penalty misses- Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho- are also expected to join the Manchester United pre season camp as soon as their extended break ends, with these young English stars expected to bounce back from the devastation of their penalty kicks. There has been a united stance by the English team players, offering support to these disappointed players, as they look to move on for the Qatar campaign.
