A new dawn for Barcelona Football Club, as Alley Sport brings FC Barcelona transfer news and the latest updates from Camp Nou ahead of the new season.
The Liga giants are still working on freeing up space in their salary cap that will allow a club icon to be tied down on fresh terms.
Contract talks with Lionel Messi are “progressing adequately”, says Barcelona president Joan Laporta, with La Liga giants still hoping to get a talismanic presence tied to fresh terms. The Blaugrana are unable to put a deal in place at present as they have no room within their salary cap, meaning that costs need to be cut by sanctioning sales.
Every effort is, however, being made to remain in close contact with a six-time Ballon d’Or winner that has dropped into free agency and just savoured long-awaited international glory with Argentina at the Copa America.
The promising youngster, who is highly regarded in his native Austria, is taking his undoubted potential to Catalunya.
Barcelona have agreed a deal with Rapid Vienna that will see teenage forward Yusuf Demir link up with their B side on an initial season-long loan that includes a €10m purchase (£9m/$12m) option.
The highly-rated youngster moves to Catalunya in an arrangement that will cost the Blaugrana €500,000 up front. The Liga giants are hoping to unlock further potential in the 18-year-old, who has tended to operate on the wing in his short career to date, and see him move through their system.
The Dutch forward is having to accept reduced terms at Camp Nou as the Blaugrana seek to balance their books.
Memphis Depay is set to earn 30 per cent less at Barcelona than was initially agreed, with the Liga giants needing to cut costs in order to operate under a salary cap. The Netherlands international forward is among those to have made a move to Camp Nou this summer, along with Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia and Emerson Royal.
Deals are, however, yet to be officially completed as the Blaugrana need to free up funds in order to get fresh faces on board and keep their books balanced.
Barcelona confirmed on Monday that 18-year-old midfielder Kays Ruiz has returned to the club on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
The teenager will join Barcelona B and has signed a three-year deal with the option for two more. Ruiz arrived at Barcelona at the age of seven and spent six seasons with the club before heading off to PSG after the club’s FIFA sanction.
The youngster now gets a second chance at Barcelona and it will be interesting to see how he gets on under new coach Sergi Barjuan and if he can impress enough to be handed first-team chances.
Antoine Griezmann’s future at Barcelona appears uncertain due to the club’s ongoing financial problems, and the latest update suggests Barca are thinking about a swap deal with Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool are apparently interested in Saul and have made an offer of €40 million which Atletico think is insufficient. A higher bid is needed for a player under contract until 2026 and with a release clause set at €150m. Meanwhile, Barca still want a midfielder after missing out on Georginio Wijnaldum which is where Saul comes in. Coach Ronald Koeman is said to be willing to let Griezmann leave if his departure ensures Lionel Messi stays.
Barcelona’s Miralem Pjanic has had his foot halfway out the door of the club for the last six months. Things never worked out for him at Barca and his interest has been to move back to Juventus and Serie A.
A deal is reportedly being finalized for his exit from the club. Right now a loan appears to be the most likely option. Pjanic prefers a Juve move before a Premier League move but has to wait on the Italian side to figure out some extra midfield moves to make room.
The other option if Juventus take too long would be a move to London with Tottenham or Arsenal. Both clubs are reportedly interested in the Bosnian and his playstyle would suit both sides.
