Eric Garcia from Man City to Barcelona confirmed

La Masia youth product Eric Garcia who joined the Catalan giants at the age of seven, sought pastures new in 2017, when he joined Manchester City. After spending his first season in England with the under-18s as their captain, Garcia made his City debut in 2018 against Leicester City in a Carabao Cup match. After ending the 2019/20 season as Guardiola’s first-choice partner for Aymeric Laporte in central defence, Garcia rejected a contract from City with his eyes set on a return to his hometown.

It was rumored that Barcelona were also interested in his services in the summer, but a formal bid never materialized. Now, as Fabrizio Romano reports, Barcelona have reached total agreement with Eric Garcia for a free transfer at the end of the current season.

However, there is a possibility of Manchester City agreeing terms with Barcelona for a small transfer fee to let the 19-year old centre-back join the Blaugrana immediately. At this age, Garcia is expected to be the long-term successor of Gerard Pique at the heart of Barcelona’s defence. His technical skills augur well with Barca’s typical fluid, possession-based style of play.

High demand for David Alaba; Real Madrid the preferred choice -Fabrizio Romano twitter

Austrian international and two-time Champions League winner David Alaba is set to end his fairy-tale journey with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. Alaba’s contract is set to expire coming summer, and the defender is said to have fielded approaches from as many as 5 different clubs for a free transfer. Alaba, though, as Fabrizio Romano reports, has his eyes set on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Alaba, who primarily plays as a left-back, but is also adept at playing centrally or as a defensive midfielder, joined Bayern Munich’s youth system in 2009. He has since risen through the ranks, making his debut for the Bavarian club in 2010 at the age of 18. Alaba has won 9 Bundesliga titles, 6 DFB Pokal trophies, 2 UEFA Champions League titles, 2 UEFA Super Cups and a FIFA Club World Cup. He has rejected contract talks with Bayern and has indicated his desire for a new challenge, with Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid his preferred choice.

It would be a match made in heaven, with a serial winner like David Alaba joining the ranks of a squad that already has experienced leaders like Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Marcelo. Alaba’s versatility will also come in handy for Zidane’s quest to win a fourth Champions League title. Whether the transfer will take place in the summer, or the two clubs will sit down for negotiations remains to be seen.

Manchested United seal the signing of Amad Diallo – Fabrizio Romano Twitter

OGS confirms the impending arrival of wonderkid Amad Diallo

Surprise Premier League title challengers Manchester United have finalized the signing of 18-year-old wonderkid Amad Diallo Traore from Atalanta. The right-winger had been under United’s radar for a while and the Manchester club closed the deal to bring him to Old Trafford on October 2020, with the deal set to go through in January 2021.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all but confirmed his arrival in his post-match press conference, after the Red Devils beat Aston Villa 2-1 to go level with league leaders Liverpool. “I can’t see any obstacles. He’s coming. Hope very soon he will be with us”, the Norwegian tactician was quoted as saying in the post-match presser. Diallo may not make his first-team debut immediately and could follow a similar path to Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri, who joined the United in the summer.

United have strengthened their right-wing position, which had been in need of reinforcements for a while now. Diallo, who became the first player born in 2002 to score in the Serie A, is said to have good potential and can be United’s first choice right winger for years to come.

There seems to be a hiccup with the deal, however, as Atalanta boss Gasperini wants Diallo to finish the season at Atalanta before leaving for Old Trafford. Either way, the deal is reportedly done and Amad Diallo is also said to be keen on joining his new club right away.

Julian Brandt to Arsenal – No negotiations yet, says Zorc

Borussia Dortmund’s attacking midfielder Julian Brandt has emerged as a potential transfer target for Arsenal. The North London football club have had a disappointing season so far, and are 13th in the Premier League table, with 20 points from 16 matches. One of the sharper criticisms of Arsenal’s season has been their lack of creativity – as indicated by the poor number of chances the team has created. Brandt is a modern, dynamic playmaker who will solve Arsenal’s problems with creativity from midfield. Brandt joined Dortmund from Bayer 04 Leverkusen for 25 million Euros in 2019.

However as Romano reports, Dortmund’s sport director Michael Zorc has denied the rumors, saying no negotiations have happend with Arsenal. He had also mentioned that Dortmund are not planning to sell one of their more important players in the middle of their season. Given that Dortmund acquired Brandt only in 2019 and the 24-year old has 4 more years left in his contract, Dortmund are in a strong negotiating position and Arsenal would have to loosen their purse strings to close the deal. The player himself has remained quiet over the rumors. Arsenal also have backup options such as Real Madrid’s Isco and Norwich City’s Emiliano Buendia.
