Kai Havertz has been working hard to get back into playing shape after being forced to take it easy for two weeks following mild symptoms and a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. He’s missed all three of Chelsea’s games this month, including the weekend’s trip to Newcastle, for which he was eligible but not match fit. Lampard has included him in the Squad for the match against Rennes and will be looking to give him some minutes.

Here’s what Lampard had to say about the German’s fitness “Kai is a naturally fit boy so I hope to have him travelling with us to Rennes and maybe he’ll get some minutes. I’m not sure exactly how many because it was a two-week isolation but he looks in good shape.”
Lampard will also be looking to resting some players as they have a grueling fixtures in the premier league as they play Tottenham on 29th then Sevilla in UCL and then Leeds in the League and then Everton the next week.
Ben Chilwell still has a back problem but played in the Newcastle game also Mason mount has had a lot of playing time with England in the Nations league. Christian Pulisic is still out with a hamstring injury.

If Chelsea win the match they qualify which will help Lampard to rotate his squad for the CL games therefore he’ll have his players for tricky Premier League fixtures. To do this they must first beat Rennes at their home.
