City have won their last 6 home games against Burnley by an aggregate score of 24-2, including three successive 5-0 victories. Man City could become only the second team in the history of English football and the first since 1907 to win four consecutive home games against a specific opponent by 5 or more goals.
Burnley’s 1-0 win on Monday night over Crystal Palace was enough to lift them out of the relegation zone, ending what had been an eight-match winless run. Sean Dyche’s side are without an away win since July and also have failed to score in away games since October when they only got 1 point each from 0-0 draws against West Bromwich Albion and Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Clarets have suffered a major blow with the news that Nick Pope is unlikely to feature after receiving a knock to his head on Monday night. Bailey Peacock-Farrell is expected to replace the England man in goal, while Dyche revealed that Robbie Brady and Dale Stephens are also likely to miss out. Jack Cork remains a long-term absentee.
Pep Guardiola on the other hand has some good news that Fernandinho, Benjamin Mendy have returned to full fitness. Nathan Ake who was out with a hamstring problem is back in training although he is still a doubt. Sergio Aguero who’s fit again will be looking to start given his impressive goal tally against Burnley as the Argentine has 9 goals in his last 9 appearances against Burnley across all competitions. Kevin de Bruyne is a world class player and will be the key factor again in this fixture. Kevin de Bruyne and Kyle Walker did not travel to Greece for their UCL clash against Olympiacos but are expected to be back for the game against Burnley.
