Brazilians who have won the Premier League & Preview

In the Premier League, some well-known players, including Robinho and Alexandre Pato, have fallen short of making an impact. The successful players, on the other hand, include individuals including Fernandinho, Gilberto Silva, Philippe Coutinho, and Roberto Firmino.

Fernandinho of Manchester City has the most accomplished career in terms of championships won. He won 13 trophies during his nine-year tenure with the Cityzens, including five Premier League trophies. Now let’s take a look at the list of the Brazilians who have won the Premier League:-

1). Gilberto Silva (Arsenal).

After signing after Brazil won the 2002 World Cup, he made an impression by scoring the game-winning goal on his debut in the Community Shield and never went back. Alongside Patrick Vieira, the defensive midfielder thrived as a member of the 2003–04 Invincibles. He made 170 Premier League games and participated in the 2006 Champions League final. Silva also scored the club’s quickest goal ever (21 seconds) and won the FA Cup twice with Arsenal. He also scored the opening goal at the Emirates Stadium.

Willian won five trophies, including two Premier League titles, during his seven-year spell at Chelsea before joining Arsenal on a three-year deal in 2020. The Brazilian winger for Chelsea has played more than 230 games and also scored more than 60 goals throughout his Chelsea Career. Currently, the ex-Chelsea and Arsenal player has signed for the newly promoted side Fulham in the Premier League and has proven to play a key role in the Survival of Fulham in the Premier League.

He has played a key role in City’s turnaround, serving as a pillar as they won five Premier League championships, an FA Cup, and six League Cups. The aggressive Brazilian has contributed a few goals as well, tallying 20 in 264 games. The Brazilian has provided to play a vital role in the midfield for years for Manchester City. Pep Guardiola always had one player which started for most of the games of Manchester City and that was the Brazilian Tank, Fernandinho. From making decisive tackles to connecting plays through the field Fernandinho had to all in himself.

Luiz was frequently criticised for his shoddy defending, yet he still had a significant impact on Chelsea and Arsenal winning the FA Cup and other prestigious awards. Before departing for PSG in a £50 million deal, a record move for a defender, Luiz won the Europa League, the Champions League, and the FA Cup thrice during his first stint with the Blues. At Arsenal in 2020, he will win the FA Cup for a third time after winning the Premier League with Antonio Conte’s team on his arrival for £34 million.

5). Roberto Firmino (Liverpool).

Roberto Firmino, together with Mohamed Salah & Sadio Mane, made formed one-third of Liverpool’s infamous offensive trident, which was only disassembled this summer. He also holds the record for the most goals scored by a Brazilian in the Premier League. They all together scored 144 goals in 105 Premier League matches as a team, whereas Firmino’s total is 71 goals & 46 assists in 231 Premier League outings. Although playing up front, Jurgen Klopp calls him the team’s “engine” because of his relentless push and ability to regain possession.

6). Ederson (Manchester City).

Ederson cost £35 million to acquire when he transferred to English side Manchester City for the 2017–18 season, making him the most expensive goalkeeper in history as a result of the nominal value of the pound sterling at the time of the move.   In his first year in England, he succeeded in winning the Premier League and the EFL Cup, and the following year, he achieved a domestic triple. In 2017, Ederson made his professional debut for Brazil after having already received a cap at the under-23 level. He was selected for the Brazilian team to compete in the Copa América in 2019 and 2021 as well as the FIFA World Cup in 2018 & 2022, winning the latter event in 2019.

7). Fabinho (Liverpool).

Fabinho has been a key player in Liverpool’s successful era under Jurgen Klopp since joining the club in a £43 million deal from AS Monaco four years ago. In his 170 appearances for the club, Fabinho has helped the team win the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup. He has played centre defence, but his best play and leadership have come in the middle of the field, where he even contributed a burst of goals over the holiday season the previous year. The 28-year-old is expected to continue at Liverpool for the foreseeable future after agreeing to a following five contract deal in 2021.

8). Rafael (Manchester United).

Though he and his twin brother Fabio both joined United, it was he who stood out more throughout his seven seasons with the team. After he achieved three Premier League championships and a League Cup, Rafael emerged as the right-back to succeed Gary Neville. Rafael’s curling goal against Liverpool rivals in a 2-1 victory for United at Anfield is another pleasant memory for United supporters.

9). Anderson (Manchester United).

He spent 18 months in Portugal before moving on to English club Manchester United, where he won four Premier League championships, the 2007–08 UEFA Champions League, one League Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, and two FA Community Shields. After Alex Ferguson’s resignation as manager of Manchester United in 2013, he was no longer favoured by the club. He spent the remainder of the next season at Fiorentina before joining Internacional in January 2015 and travelling back to Brazil. In 2017, he was on loan at Coritiba, and with the Turkish team Adana Demirspor in 2018, he returned to Europe. A year later, in September 2020, Anderson announced his retirement from football.

10). Edu (Arsenal).

The sports director of Premier League team Arsenal is Brazilian retired professional footballer Eduardo César Daud Gaspar, also known as Edu. He was born on May 16, 1978. He had a 12-year playing career and spent time with Valencia in Spain, Arsenal in England, and Corinthians in Brazil as an offensive and central midfielder. Edu made fifteen appearances for the Brazil national team between 2004 and 2005.

It would be a crime if we didn’t mention Oscar, Juliano Belletti, Alex, from Chelsea, Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, and Alisson from Liverpool in this list.
