UEFA Euros 2020 had an interesting group stage round, with Alley Sport bringing you the Best Teams of the Group Stage and the insights to their performances till now.

UEFA Euros 2020 was hyped for a lot of quality teams involved, with the footballing powerhouses like France, Germany, Belgium, England and Italy all holding strong squads for the competition. There have been some surprising performances through out the tournament, with some favorites living up to the expectations, whereas certain teams like Turkey and Russia have disappointed majorly, crashing out in the group stages after belief in their talent.
Best Teams of the Group Stage: Italy

Italy had been written off by many critics due to their poor performances in previous international tournaments, but had a emphatic start to the Euros, winning 3-0 against a tricky Turkey side in the opening game of the tournament. The Italians then went on to win 3-0 again against Switzerland, and beat Wales 1-0 in their final group game, topping the group with 3 out of 3 wins, setting up an encounter with Austria in the Round of 16. Italy have not lost a game since 29 matches, not conceeding a goal since their past 11 games, putting the Italians as one of the favorites of the tournament.
Best Teams of the Group Stage: Belgium

Belgium entered the tournament as the number 1 ranked team in the FIFA Rankings, starting their campaign with a dominant 3-0 win over Russia. Belgium showed their ability to fight back from tough situations, as they overcame a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1 against a motivated Denmark team. Belgium ended the campaign with a perfect record, as they beat Finland 2-0 in their final group game. Romelu Lukaku has been the star of the Belgian side, scoring 3 goals in the group stages, with the return of Kevin de Bruyne and Eden Hazard sparking the Belgian’s quest for the European title.
Best Teams of the Group Stage: Netherlands

Netherlands have been a side of transition, after humiliating non-qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Euros, the Dutch are back. They started their Euro comeback with a strong 3-2 victory over Ukraine, and showed their title credentials after dominating Austria in a 2-0 victory. Netherlands ended their group campaign with a 3-0 victory over minnows Macedonia, with Gini Wijnaldum scoring a total of 3 goals in the campaign so far, with the likes of Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong bringing the spark to the new look Netherlands.
