Arsenal predicted lineup vs Newcastle United: Match Preview

The same two teams faced each other last week in the FA Cup 3rd Round, with Arsenal winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Emile Smith-Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in extra time. After the two sides failed to find a breakthrough in 90 minutes, the game went to extra time. Youngster Emile Smith-Rowe who has been in stellar form for the last couple of games, scored with a fine finish after striker Lacazatte found him with a good pass. Later on, substitute Kieran Tierney played a sublime one-two and moved into the left flank, teeing up captain Aubameyang who finished from close range.

The win sees Arsenal advance to the next round of the FA Cup. The Gunners are the reigning FA Cup champions, after beating Chelsea in last year’s final to lift the trophy for a record 14 times. Arteta will be hoping to win the game against Newcastle to try and repair the damage to Arsenal’s season during the first few months.

Their opponents Newcastle, recently lost 1-0 to Sheffield United after Billy Sharp converted a 73rd minute penalty to give Sheffield their first win of this league season. Steve Bruce will look for a strong reaction from his side after suffering a blow that sees the Magpies go down to 15th place in the league table, just 7 points away from the relegation zone.
