Arsenal vs Crystal Palace, Match Preview

Mikel Arteta’s men will host Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium for the 3rd Round of the FA Cup this week, before playing against Palace. Arsenal will hope to advance to the next stages of the FA Cup, after winning the competition in 2019/20. After their EFL Cup exit at the hands of eventual finalists Manchester City, Arsenal have had an upturn in their form, winning their last 3 competitive fixtures, starting with a 3-1 win over London rivals Chelsea.

In their last game, Arsenal had a successful game away against struggling West Brom, winning 4-0 at The Hawthorns in the Premier League. Scottish left-back Kieran Tierney opened the scoring with a brilliant solo run, cutting on to his right-foot and finding the top-corner of the net. The visitors later put together a fine team move, that resulted in wonder-kid Bukayoko Saka slotting past the West Brom keeper to double his team’s lead. French striker Alexandre Lacazette later scored two in the space of 4 minutes, firing from a rebound and later converting a cross from Tierney.

Crystal Palace are on a poor run of form. After an embarrassing 7-0 defeat to Liverpool, Palace were knocked out of the FA Cup this week by Wolves. The Midlands club found the decisive goal from winger Adama Traore, giving Palace their 3rd defeat in their last 5 matches.
